8(a) Business Development Program

SBA program that helps socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses compete for sole-source and set-aside contracts.

The SBA's 8(a) Business Development Program provides a nine-year pathway for socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses to compete for federal contracts. 8(a) firms are eligible for sole-source contracts up to $4.5M (services) or $7M (manufacturing), plus set-aside competitions limited to 8(a) participants. Program entry requires disadvantaged ownership (≥51%), low personal net worth (under $850K, excluding home and business equity), and demonstrated business viability.
