NAICS Code

North American Industry Classification System code — a six-digit number that classifies businesses by industry.

NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes are six-digit industry classifiers used by federal agencies to categorize contract opportunities and set small-business size standards. Each solicitation lists a primary NAICS code; the SBA size standard attached to that code determines whether a business is "small" for purposes of set-aside competition. Businesses can hold multiple NAICS codes in SAM.gov, but only the solicitation's NAICS governs size eligibility for that specific bid.
