Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT)

The dollar ceiling below which agencies may use streamlined procedures instead of full FAR Part 15 competition.

Below the simplified acquisition threshold, agencies use the streamlined procedures in FAR Part 13 — less documentation, faster award, and reserved for small business by default. The threshold is set by regulation and adjusted periodically, so confirm the current figure rather than relying on memory. Acquisitions between the micro-purchase threshold and the SAT are automatically reserved for small business.
