Small Disadvantaged Business
A self-identified designation (no SBA certification required) for small businesses that are at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. SDB status is used for goal attribution and agency reporting.
Eligibility
- Small business under SBA size standard
- At least 51% owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals
- Economic disadvantage thresholds mirror 8(a)
Benefits
- Counts toward 12% government-wide SDB goal
- Often paired with 8(a) status; 8(a) participants are automatically SDB
