Bridge Contract
A short-term extension or sole-source award covering a gap while a recompete is completed.
A bridge contract keeps services running when a follow-on award slips — commonly because of a protest or an extended source selection. Bridges usually go to the incumbent by necessity. For a challenger, a bridge is a signal: the recompete is delayed, not lost, and there is more time to position than the original schedule suggested.
