Recompete

A new competition for work currently under contract, held as the existing contract's term ends.

A recompete is the reopening of existing work. It is the most predictable opportunity type in federal contracting because the timing is largely knowable in advance — which is exactly why capture should begin twelve to eighteen months out, not when the solicitation posts. Requirements often change at recompete, and reading last cycle's award and debriefing is the cheapest intelligence available.
