ITAR

International Traffic in Arms Regulations — export controls governing defense articles, services, and technical data.

ITAR restricts the export and sharing of defense-related articles and technical data on the U.S. Munitions List, including sharing with foreign persons inside the United States. Firms handling ITAR-controlled data must register with the State Department's DDTC and implement access controls. Violations carry severe civil and criminal penalties, and ITAR obligations flow down to subcontractors.
